Comprehensive calibration services are provided for most radiation measurement instrumentation utilized in the medical or health physics community. Radiation Calibration Laboratory (UWRCL) The University of Wisconsin Radiation Calibration Laboratory (UWRCL) , provides calibration services for most radiation measurement instrumentation available in the medical or health physics community. The UWRCL is an Accredited Dosimetry Calibration Laboratory (ADCL) ,by the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) . Additionally the UWRCL is accredited through the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA ) for meeting the performance criteria of the internationally accepted ISO/IEC 17025. Research (UWMRRC) "If we knew what it was we were doing, it would not be called research, would it?" - Albert Einstein The University of Wisconsin Medical Radiation Research Center (UWMRRC) focuses on the science of metrology as applied to Radiation Therapy Physics. The laboratory has been instrumental in the development of several methodologies adopted as national standards. Additionally, the UWMRRC developed and maintains the national standard for 192 Ir High Dose Rate Brachytherapy sources. The evolution of highly complex dynamic external beam radiotherapy modalities provides new avenues for metrology research. CLICK HERE to look through research currently underway at the UWMRRC. Education The UWMRRC supports 10-15 graduate students in the Medical Physics Department through UWRCL calibration service fees and industry funded research contracts . The focus of the laboratory's research is on fundamental ionizing radiation metrology in radiation therapy physics. Continuing Education (CE) is an important component of clinical medical physicists' professional development. As part of its education and community support missions, the UWMRRC offers CAMPEP -accredited continuing education courses utilizing our dedicated Education/Research Linear Accelerator Facility . CE courses offered by the UWMRRC utilize both classroom instruction and hands-on laboratory components to provide an educational environment to support modern radiotherapy clinics. Price Increase January 1, 2020 Due to continuing increases in operating costs, the UWADCL will increase its calibration fees effective January 1, 2020. All orders placed by December 31, 2019 will be honored. Quotations generated by December 31, 2019, will expire at the of business, March 31, 2020.
